TOPEKA – Seven people died when a killer tornado roared through a farm 40 miles south of Topeka yesterday. Officials say six adults were consoling “a delusional teen girl” in a farmhouse when nature unleashed its fury, killing all of them.
The seven had happily posed for a photograph just minutes before the calamity.

PITTSBURGH – Pirates owner Bob Nutting unveiled plans to put the team in a new ballpark to be built between PNC Park and Heinz Field.
“PNC Park is ten years old, and it’s very outdated,” Nutting said. “In order for the Pittsburgh Pirates to be competitive, we need a new ballpark.”
The park would be constructed at taxpayer expense and would be ”a retro-cookie cutter stadium that will conjure up memories of the ’70s,” said Nutting. Almost one-half of the seating space in the new park would be for luxury boxes.
A reporter asked Nutting if the drawing he displayed looked eerily similar to Three Rivers Stadium.
“Yes,” Nutting said emphatically. “I think we have come to the realization that Three Rivers Stadium got it mostly right, so this would be a throwback to that whole wonderful era.”
Nutting said the cost of the new park would be “in excess of $900 million,” and that if the Pirates can’t get a new venue in Pittsburgh, ”we will need to explore our options” about relocating.
